How To Find a Dog Training Professional if you have an Aggressive or Biting Dog

Finding a Dog Training Professional

if you have an Aggressive or Biting Dog

If you are having any type of aggressive issues with your dog, you know “Biting”. Do not assume for one minute that you can call up any dog trainer or behaviorist, and get the help you and your dog needs.

And it doesn’t really matter if the person you hire is an Certified Dog Trainer or an Animal Behaviorist. There are plenty of dog training professionals that have a ton of theoretical behavior knowledge, but are too afraid of your dog to do you any good.

If they are truly good with animals (dogs), they should have absolutely no problem getting close enough to your seemingly aggressive dog. If the dog training professional you hire, will not or can not get close enough to your dog to touch and pet them, they are not the right person for the job.

Find someone else, your dogs life is at stake here.

A dog training professional should not ever be afraid of your dog, that would be similar to a fireman being afraid to run into a burning building.

And please do not believe whatever type mumbo jumbo they give you, as to why they will not go near or touch your dog.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING A DOG TRAINING PROFESSIONAL CAN DO FOR THEIR CLIENT, IS SHOW THEM FIRST HAND THAT THEY ARE COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR DOG, AND THAT THEY CAN EASILY PUT YOUR DOG AT EASE.

It is vital that you see for yourself that your dog WILL behave in a more social and relaxed manner, with the dog trainer / behaviorist. A trainer or behaviorist that fails to accomplish this for you, does not have the experienced required to help you with your problem.

Also if a trainer is not afraid of your dog and they try dominate your dog, that is also the wrong approach.

The correct method when dealing with aggressive biting behaviors is to know how to relax your dog, and to relax them the trainer must understand the inherited fears that dogs possess. That means the dog training professional you hire, SHOULD NOT be afraid of your dog, and THEY SHOULD be able to put your dog at ease relatively easily.

Please do your dog a favor and give the dog training professional you hire, The Spirit Dog Trainer Test.

  1. One of the root causes of an angry dog is that he or she feels that you don’t really understand him or her. While this need for empathic training exists for all dogs, it is within the aggressive dogs that it becomes significantly pronounced.

We recommend a number of empathy-training techniques, one of which being to use our Empathy Leash. Both the dog and you wear collars, strap the leash to both your necks, and you let the dog lead you around (YES you can stand on two feet! )

While you are definitely able to make this leash yourself by combining two leashes together, you may want to check out the photo of our leash for reference:
