No kill animal shelters, that kill animals

Love donating your hard earned money, to help out the abandoned and/or abused dogs. Well then, you better be real careful who you give your money to. From personal experience I can tell you that it’s a common practice for no kill animal shelters, to kill animals.

What they have going for them is, technically they don’t kill dogs at their establishments. They ship them out to the local town animal shelters, to do the dirty work. So their hands are clean, and their advertising can continue intact, ” With your continued support, we have saved 15 billion dogs in the last year alone”.

A significant number of the animal lovers that work or volunteer their time at these places, don’t even know this goes on. This is management level stuff, that they are not privy to. They are usually told, it’s an animal exchange program or some other bullshit.

How do I know this stuff, two reasons

( 1 ) I have taught the animal handlers in these shelters, how to safely handle the more nervous dogs, and how to mentally rehab them.

( 2 ) We have a some of their dogs, here at our animal sanctuary. Every once in a while, one of the staff that actually knows what happens to the un-adoptable dogs. Will take a particular interest in a dog, and calls us about them. Because they know what will happen.

Sadly all these places started off as wonderful animal rescues, forty, fifty, or a hundred years ago. But the animal lovers that started them, way back when, are long gone.

  1. Poor dogs, instead of having a peaceful life on the dog/animal shelter, their life turns more miserable. Yeah, you must be careful to whom you donate your money or else. Dogs are also like us, they too have feelings and we must remember that Dog’s are man’s bestfriend and they will never leave you nor betray you.

  2. The funny thing is, a lot of these particular “no kill” places like to bad mouth the local animal shelters for euthanizing dogs, go figure.

I bet you they don’t refer anybody with little dogs to the pound, the little guys are like Gold to rescue groups. Easily adoptable, which makes their numbers look better.

Hope Rocky is finding a little more happiness.

  3. I’m glad you brought this up. I volunteer at the city pound where there is a very decent rescue program going on but since this is a pound, there is also euthanasia. Unfortunate thing is, the city pound constantly gets trash talked by the other “no kill” shelter even though they constantly refer their patrons over to us when they don’t want to deal with the older, sicker animals themselves. Instead of calling themselves “no kill” shelters, they should call themselves “pass the buck” shelters.
