In a story reported today by CNN’s Lauren Kornreich. The Obama family has chosen a Portuguese Water Dog as their new family pet, because of Malia’s allergy to dogs.

To answer your question which is a common one, ” Are some dogs untrainable” , if you know dogs well enough the answer is NO. Every dog is trainable.
